Sometimes our karma is not so good and there is a chance to modify bad karma. It can be any sphere of our life that is damaged. By preforming the ritual with mantras and oblations offered into the fire, a specific Deity becomes pleased and in return, some boons and benedictions are received, and thus the ritual served as a mean of spiritual exchange between the Lord and a human being. The Supreme Lord is ultimate recipient of all sacrifices and these performances are done for His satisfaction.

In consultation with jyotishi (astrologer) one can get information on how many yagyas are needed for the particular problem.
